carboNZero programme receive 2008 Champion Canterbury Award for Champion Service


The carboNZero programme has just been announced a winner at New Zealand’s premier business awards, the Champion Canterbury awards. The award was presented for Champion Service for a medium/large companies.

It’s one thing to be recognised for our impeccable sustainability principals and goals but to be honoured by business leaders highlights just how the carboNZero programme has ‘come of age’. We’re extremely proud of our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making businesses both in New Zealand and overseas smarter, more environmentally friendly and more profitable.

A record 130 firms entered the sixth annual awards, organised by Champion Canterbury, which is owned by the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce. A team of 35 judges, including business and community leaders, narrowed the entries to 42 finalists before choosing the overall winners.

Champion Canterbury chairman Peter Townshend said the winners had demonstrated innovation and resilience.

The past year has marked remarkable growth for the carboNZero programme. The number of clients now totals more than 2800 and includes some of the nation’s most important and influential businesses and corporate identities. Likewise the numbers of staff employed on the programme continues to grow.

Chamipon Service Winner's badgeIn April the carboNZero programme went global, signing a partnership with British-based Achilles Information Limited, the leading global provider of supplier management services to provide the measurement, management and certification steps of the programme to its 30,000 clients in 23 countries.
