CEMARSTM certification
What is CEMARS?
![]() |
Achilles' Carbon Reduction Programme has achieved a significant milestone achievement with United Utilities becoming one of the first organisations in the United Kingdom to successfully achieve CEMARS certification |
Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme
CEMARS is the first two steps of the carboNZero programme. It enables businesses and organisations to measure their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in compliance with ISO 14064-1*, understand their carbon liabilities, and put in place management plans to reduce emissions in their organisation and more widely through their supply chain.
CEMARS has been developed for businesses and organisations who are large emitters and for whom offsetting is not a viable business proposition or have not yet made the business case for carbon neutral status.
Government legislation requires businesses to understand their inherent carbon liabilities and start thinking differently about energy, technology and the economy – CEMARS provides a highly credible solution.
The programme has been launched in the international market by partnering with UK firm Achilles Information Ltd. The programme will see the scheme rolled out to some 32,000 clients in 24 countries who need to report for the Carbon Reduction Scheme, the Carbon Disclosure Project as well as annual corporate reporting.
