Sustainable Business Network Awards 2008, Southern Region

The NZI Sustainable Business Network awards are about recognising leadership in sustainable business here in New Zealand. The awards are an annual event held both regionally and nationally.

The Southern Region has celebrated the best of sustainability achievements amongst its members with the 2008 Southern Region SBN Awards, held on August 20th in Christchurch.

The carboNZero programme was the winner of the Sustainable Design and Innovation award which celebrates products, services, or buildings that are remarkable in their sustainability achievements. This award recognizes sustainable design and innovation (including building) that is having proven economic, environmental and/or social benefits, contributing to sustainable development.

Jan Harrison, Regional Manager of the Sustainable Business Network's Southern office, is delighted with the achievements of these South Island businesses that are doing their bit to ensure the needs of future generations can be met. "With award entries at an all time high, the judging panel certainly had their work cut out for them." said Jan Harrison.

Other finalists in this category include Offset the Rest Ltd from Nelson, Bokashi NZ Ltd, Ecobob and Harrington Hybrid Homes.
