Certification options

The carboNZero programme is an internationally recognised greenhouse gas emissions measurement, reduction and certification scheme offering optional mitigation strategies through the use of credible and verified offsets or carbon credits.

• Simple calculators and guidance are available for individuals to measure, manage (reduce) and mitigate (offset) their household and travel greenhouse gas emissions or carbon footprint.

• Templates and guidance are available for political and business leaders, ambassadors and celebrities to measure their personal household greenhouse gas inventory and prepare an emissions reduction plan.

• carboNZero certification is available for organisations, businesses, products, services and events.
  
  
• CEMARS certification is available for organisations, industries and manufacturers who are large emitters and for whom offsetting is not a viable business proposition.
  
  
• The carboNZero small enterprise certification option is available for small enterprises operating from one site with less than 50 tonnes CO2e per year.
  

• Certification is awarded only after independent verification by authorised verifiers. Organisations seeking certification will have prepared the measure, manage and mitigate steps themselves (or through the use of their consultant) and submitted an application for certification.
