CEMARS™TV Commercials
“Good for the environment and helps the bottom line!”
If you’re up bright and early, tune into TV One’s NZI Business programme every morning from 16th November to 18th December 2009, to see Westpac’s CEO George Frazis showcasing CEMARS (Certified Emissions Measurement And Reduction Scheme).
The advertisement has been developed by the carboNZero programme as part of a drive to encourage businesses to measure and reduce their impact on the environment and gain tangible recognition through CEMARS certification.
As recently announced, Westpac achieved the carboNZero programme’s CEMARS certification at the beginning of this month for the second year and is currently the only bank in the world to be certified.
“Doing nothing is not an option”
The advertisement shows how doing nothing about their greenhouse gas emissions was not an option for Westpac. Therefore, they used CEMARS to measure and reduce their GHG emissions “…in fact last year we reduced our carbon footprint by 28%”
Suzie Marsden, Head of Sustainability at Westpac says: “We’re delighted that the carboNZero programme approached us to take part in this advertisement”
“We chose the carboNZero programme to certify our carbon footprint because of the excellent reputation they’ve established, we’re proud to be associated with them”

- Top Chef - Pigs and Pinot - Season 6, Episode 8 10/14/2009 Part 3
Wairau River Wines, our carboNZero certified client featured on the internationally popular American show Top Chef. Wairau River Pinot Noir featured on this international high rating programme as 1 of 9 Pinot Noir from around the world (the only wine from NZ!), which the chefs used to match with a pork dish. The wines and dishes were sampled at the annual charity ‘Pig and Pinot’ event organised each year by last week’s guest judge – a highly respected Master Chef, Charlie Palmer.
For a New Zealand wine to be featured alongside the world’s best is a fabulous testimony for Kiwi made product, and we were extraordinary proud to see it was one of our client!

2. Grove Mill (New Zealand Wine Company) do include wine bottles and all relevant life cycle emissions sources in the calculation of their wine product footprint.
3. The New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme will not make air travel carbon neutral.
